Raleigh Twenty Reinvented

September 29, 2010

Oh dear,

I really am becoming a bike geek. When I stopped to snap this latest little gem I found myself oohing and aahing over the lovely gear hub.

Then when a woman came by looking curiously at me photographing a bike outside (what turned out to be) her house, I found myself blabbing on about how I thought the handle bars were not original. I’m not sure she was as interested as I was about this bit of bike conjecture. She told me it’s her son’s bike that he made up at the CERES Bike Shed from a bit of this and a bit of that. BINGO. Another CERES love child. (See Smith Street Hybrid).

Hats off to CERES and the woman’s son who obviously has impeccable taste. Here’s his handy work in full: got to love that mud guard.

With the limited technology of my phone camera I tried to capture the manufacturing stamp… I’ve really got to get out more.

My mum had a bike like this but it was a BSA. British Small Arms. A very nice bike. Maybe it was a rebranding of a Raleigh Twenty.
